Rainman International Project Kick-off Meeting held in Lappeenranta


A kick-off meeting of the Rainman KS 1038 project (implemented with SUE Vodokanal of St.Petersburg participation) under the South-East Finland-Russia Cross-Border Cooperation 2014-2020 Program was held in Lappeenranta (Finland) on September 28th, 2018.

The parties discussed the project plans and scheduled the contract signing for November 2018. The project implementation starting date is to be on January 1st, 2019.

The joint Russian-Finnish Rainman KS 1038 Project “Towards higher adaptive capacity in urban water management” is aimed at environmental protection, climate change mitigation and disasters prevention/management challenges in the border territories. The project will receive funding from the European Union, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Finland.

Other Russian Project participants, apart SUE “Vodokanal of St.Petersburg”, are Voeikov Main Geophysical Observatory and the State Hydrological Institute. The Committee for Nature Use, Environmental Protection and Ecological Safety of St.Petersburg  acts as the Project managing authority from the Russian Federation.

The South-East Finland - Russia Cross-Border Cooperation 2014-2020 Program is aimed at the border areas common challenges solving through the implementation of joint projects of St.Petersburg, Leningrad Region and Kymenlaakso, South Karelia and Southern Savonia communes associations.
