Public toilets

Public toilets SUE “Vodokanal of St. Petersburg” has been maintaining and servicing public toilets and has been acting as the client under the contracts for repair, rehabilitation and construction of public toilets since 2001.

In 2008, SUE “Vodokanal of St. Petersburg” operated 651 public toilets.

Including:

  • 114 stationary toilets;
  • 79 modular toilets;
  • 20 mobile sanitary and hygienic complexes (on the base of buses, semitrailers and Valday vehicles);
  • 403 portable cabins;
  • 35 urinal-type toilets.

On October 16, 2007, the Government of St. Petersburg adopted resolution ¹ 1135 “Target Programme of Development of the St. Petersburg Public Toilet Network for 2007-2011” in order to increase the number of public toilets in St. Petersburg and improve the quality of service. Toilets are being overhauled, reconstructed and purchased under this programme.

In 2008, SUE “Vodokanal of St. Petersburg” reconstructed 16 public toilets and overhauled 14 public toilets.

100 portable cabins, 25 urinal-type toilets and 3 new mobile sanitary and hygienic complexes on the base of Valday vehicles were bought.

Such small complexes can be installed in the areas with heavy traffic and can operate all the year round. They can operate in a standalone mode or be connected to utility systems. Furthermore, a gravity water supply system is used in the complexes which allows to reduce their power consumption.

In 2009-2011 it is planned to:

  • overhaul 19 public toilets;
  • reconstruct 48 public toilets;
  • purchase 15 mobile sanitary and hygienic complexes on the base of automobile chassis;
  • purchase 40 modular toilets.

897 public toilets will be serviced and maintained by SUE “Vodokanal of St. Petersburg” by 2011.
